The treatment is available for areas such as the back, legs, chest, underarms, face, and genitals, and is safe and effective for all skin types. You can enjoy permanent hair reduction and have smooth skin that lasts!

Understanding the Basics of Laser Hair Removal Technology

Laser hair removal technologies work by pulsing the skin with a strong light beam that targets the melanin in hair follicles, heating them up until they are destroyed. However, traditional methods can be painful and uncomfortable for patients, which is why Alma developed the SHR technology over a decade ago. The Soprano laser devices, which use this technology, employ an “In-Motion” technique that significantly reduces discomfort and provides virtually painless hair removal. This advanced technology has been adopted by many other brands as well.

Key Considerations:

It’s important to choose a hair removal clinic that uses advanced and clinically-proven laser technology, such as Alma’s Soprano laser, which is safe and effective for all skin types, including dark skin. A skilled practitioner who understands the science behind laser hair removal is essential to achieving the desired results without any unnecessary side effects. It’s also important to keep in mind that the normal hair growth cycle is around 6 weeks for the body and a bit shorter for facial hair. Achieving maximum hair removal results typically requires 6-8 sessions, so be sure to confirm the clinic’s availability prior to purchasing a treatment package. Scheduling sessions too close together (less than 6 weeks apart) or too far apart (more than 8 weeks apart) can negatively impact results. With these basics in mind, let’s dive into our guide to help you get the best possible laser hair removal experience.

The Soprano technology Hair Removal Checklist:

Preparing for the laser procedure:
  1. Physical exam: Before the hair removal treatment, it is important to have a physical exam with a dermatologist or a Cosmetic Nurse. This will help to review your medical history, examine the treatment area, and discuss your expectations.
  2. Tanning: It is recommended to avoid tanning beds and fake tans for at least 2 weeks prior to the hair removal treatment. Tanning products contain high levels of melanin, and even though the Soprano laser is considered safe for tanned and darker skin types, it is best not to overwhelm your skin.
  3. Perfumes: Refrain from using irritant substances, such as perfumes, on the treatment area before and after the treatment.
  4. Waxing, dying, bleaching, and threading: Avoid these hair removal methods before the treatment to increase the chances of achieving permanent hair reduction. Additionally, why bother waxing when you are going for a laser appointment?
  5. Please inform the technician if you have had any cosmetic injections (Fillers, collagen injections) in the treated area within the last 6 months. or if you have any implants.
  6. Certain prescription drugs, such as some antibiotics, may cause hyper- pigmentation and are photo-sensitive. It is important to inform the practitioner if you are taking any such medication. Consult with your physician to determine whether it is safe to proceed with treatment.
  7. In order to ensure optimal treatment results, it is recommended that you shave the treated area before your laser hair removal appointment. Leaving stubble may cause the hair tips to heat up more quickly during treatment. Additionally, practitioners who use the Soprano laser, especially those who employ the “in motion” technique, will find it more comfortable to work with a shaved area.
  8. If you have any tattoos within the treatment area, it is important that the technician will cover them with tape to prevent burns, as darker tattoos absorb more laser energy due to their special dye.
Make an appointment!
During and after hair removal treatment at diode laser:
  1. During treatment, the practitioner will provide you with protective glasses. It is essential to wear these to protect your eyes.
  2. While the Soprano laser hair removal treatment is generally painless, some individuals may experience sensitivity in certain areas. If you experience excessive pain, it is important to notify the practitioner, as they can adjust the energy levels accordingly.
  3. Treatment time will vary depending on the size of the area being treated. With the new hand-piece on the Soprano Titanium laser, larger areas can be treated in half the time.
  4.  Redness and swelling around the hair follicle are normal and will subside within 24 hours.
  5. To protect your skin from sun damage, it is recommended that you use a sunscreen with SPF 30/50 on the treated area for at least one week after treatment, particularly if you will be exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time.

The FDA approved Titanium Ice laser hair removal machine, results in longer- term hair removal, time-saving and offers value for money. However, we do recommend before having any treatment of this kind you always do your research and steer clear of deals. Some very cheap packages on the market can be performed by unlicensed clinics with poor-quality, delivering poor- quality results.

The primary principle behind laser hair removal is selective photothermolysis (SPTL), the matching of a specific wavelength of light and pulse duration to obtain optimal effect on a targeted tissue with minimal effect on surrounding tissue

Frequently asked questions

While shaving, epilation and waxing are reasonable short-term solutions to hair removal, their chemicals, and plastic waste can have a significantly negative impact on our environment. They can also cause sensitivity and in- growing hairs to those that use them. Laser hair removal is a rapid, yet gentle way of removing unwanted hair with longer-lasting results. As an effective solution to ingrowing hairs, our treatment means no more irritated skink of red bumps.

In general, after six treatments you can expect to see around 90% permanent reduction in hair regrowth.

The treatment promises three things:

  1. Because the machine is fast to operate, it is perfect for larger areas like the full leg.
  2. Unlike other laser hair removal, because of revolutionary SHR technology, the treatment is virtually pain-free.
  3. It can be used to treat naturally tanned skin; therefore, if you have recently returned from holiday, your treatment will still be effective.

Almost all parts of the body can be treated; with the most common areas being the face, neck, bikini line, underarms, legs and arms.

Does it matter what colour your hairs are? As technology has advanced, lasers with adjustable wavelengths make it safe to use laser hair removal on darker skin tones as well as being able to target lighter hair colours. However, we do find that grey and blonde hair is less responsive – although we do recommend speaking with us for our expert opinion before ruling out treatment.

Titanium Ice laser hair removal incorporates sophisticated 3D laser technology to remove excessive or unwanted hair without damaging the
surrounding skin tissue. We usually see results in our patients after the third treatment. After six treatments you can expect to see around a 90% reduction in hair regrowth. Results will vary on your hair type, colour and the phase of your hair growth during treatments. Hormonal influencers are another variable to consider. Laser hair removal is available for men and women.

Our hair is always in different parts of the growth cycle. Therefore, we see, on average, between 10-20% of hairs affected by each treatment. The treatment should then be repeated every 6-8 weeks to target the next cycle of hairs.

We ask patients to shave before their treatment session. Our therapist will then carry out a thorough consultation and examination of the area to be treated. Please note that certain antibiotics can trigger hyperpigmentation. For further information, please contact us before your appointment. Before and after treatment, photography is encouraged, but this is always up to our patients’ discretion. We advise patients to avoid waxing, dying, bleaching or threading before their treatment. After your treatment, we recommend you use sunblock on exposed areas for 24-hours after your procedure. Heat treatments, saunas and direct sunlight should also be avoided. Between treatments, we would always recommend using high UVA and UVB sun protection.
